VSB - TUO strengthened cooperation with hospitals and universities in Vietnam

Representatives of VSB - TUO signed a memorandum confirming the continuation and deepening of mutual cooperation with Vietnamese institutions Ton Duc Thang University, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and Hung Vuong Hospital. This step represents another important milestone in the development of the University's international relations, aimed at the exchange of knowledge, the promotion of education and the development of joint research.

A meeting was held at Ton Duc Thang University with the management of the university and Hung Vuong Hospital, one of the top medical facilities in Vietnam. On behalf of VSB - TUO, the event was attended by Rector Václav Snášel, Vice-Rector for Studies Zdeňka Chmelíková, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FEECS) Jan Platoš, Vice-Dean for Science and Research of FEECS Radek Martinek and Professor Petr Bilík from FEECS.

During the visit, the results of the cooperation were evaluated, especially in the field of student internships and joint research projects. The Director of Hung Vuong Hospital, Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet, received a cheque in the amount of EUR 4,000, which was used to support internships of Czech students in Vietnam and further development of project and publication activities.

"The aim of our collaboration is to develop a joint international project to create a unique database of fetal ECGs, which will also include reference cardiotocography (CTG). At present, there are only a very limited number of such databases. Scientists from the Technical University of Ostrava plan to use this database to develop explainable artificial intelligence systems for automatic signal classification. We will work on this project not only with Vietnamese partners, but also with hospitals in the Czech Republic and other countries, including the USA. The results of the research will be used not only for scientific publications, but also for practical improvement of patient care," said Radek Martinek, vice dean of FEECS.

This cooperation represents an important step in international research and strengthens the position of VSB - Technical University of Ostrava as a global player in the scientific community.
