20 January | The Smart Factory laboratory in the CPIT TL3 testbed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer science at VSB-TUO will receive new equipment. Technological innovations will enable the laboratory to offer unique facilities in the field of automation, industrial robotics and mobile robotic systems. Everything will be ready before the start of the summer semester.

13 January | Access to the latest technologies and a unique opportunity to enter the world of quantum computing will be offered to students by the FEECS in cooperation with the National Supercomputing Centre IT4Innovations at the VSB - TUO. It responds to market demands and the success of IT4Innovations, which will host the first quantum computer in the Czech Republic. As the first in the Czech Republic, they will open a new specialisation focused on quantum informatics in the autumn.

12 December | A team of experts from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of VŠB-TUO was involved in the construction project of the new D line of the Prague metro, where they helped with the measurement of hazardous gases during tunneling.

04 December | The latest research by Ostrava scientists brings a major advance in the diagnosis and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity. With the help of artificial intelligence, they are able to detect serious retinal diseases faster and more reliably, thus significantly reducing the risk of blindness in children at risk.

02 December | A great success was recorded by scientists from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of VSB - TUO. Their article "Quantum Cryptography in 5G Networks: A Comprehensive Overview" published this year in the prestigious IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials was ranked among the most cited articles in the world for Computer Science for July and August.

27 November | Representatives of VSB - TUO signed a memorandum confirming the continuation and deepening of mutual cooperation with Vietnamese institutions Ton Duc Thang University, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and Hung Vuong Hospital. This step represents another important milestone in the development of the University's international relations, aimed at the exchange of knowledge, the promotion of education and the development of joint research.

25 November | Students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer science of VŠB - TUO took home the bronze medal from Vietnam. Nine teams from five universities took part in the competition, three from Vietnam and two from the Czech Republic.

21 November | A robot developed by an international team of scientists from VSB - Technical University Ostrava, Mexico and the UK may find its application in challenging environments, logistics or autonomous transport. To navigate the robot, they used a revolutionary bioalgorithm that mimics the behaviour of a "natural genius".

15 November | The best publishing scientist (Junior Researcher) for the year 2023 was Kateřina Barnová from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FEECS). She received the award at the Ceremonial Meeting of the Scientific Council of VSB - TUO.

12 November | VSB - Technical University of Ostrava will participate in the unique SMARTTEST project, which brings together experts from several European universities. The aim of the project is to create a doctoral network aimed at educating a new generation of scientists capable of combining advanced wireless technologies and radio signal processing with biomedical signal analysis and health monitoring.
