We offer study programmes at all levels of higher education, including bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies. VŠB-TUO was the first university in the Czech Republic to start teaching the prestigious Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2004.

Thanks to its relatively long history, it also has the largest number of successful graduates and a lot of experience in teaching both technical and clinical subjects. Our goal is to prepare high quality graduates with a promising career in practice.

BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

Bachelor's degree programme

We are an innovative branch of the VSB-TUO University focused on the possibilities of technology in practical applications of medicine. The results of our work contribute to the overall improvement of health care and human life. We combine knowledge from engineering, biology, anatomy, chemistry and many other fields. Join us and do work that is truly meaningful.

BIOMEDICAL ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

Bachelor's degree programme

A technique that can help everyone. Aids, devices and modern technical solutions for healthy or disabled people, the elderly, their caregivers, but also for everyone who actively takes care of their health.

A unique bachelor's degree programme, the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic, in which 3 departments of our faculty, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava and the Faculty of Social Studies of the University of Ostrava actively participate.

A field with state-of-the-art laboratories that contain the best of assistive technologies - a comprehensive set of electronic aids for the disabled, cutting-edge telemedicine solutions, assisted living devices, common and uncommon wearables devices and unique systems for tracking the movement and behaviour of people. In addition, the laboratories are equipped with a cutting-edge home automation system and are powered exclusively by renewable energy sources.

BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

Master's degree programme

with a long tradition at VŠB - TU Ostrava, which represents a combination of engineering applications in medicine and biology. The study prepares versatile graduates for a career as technicians working in medical institutions or in companies dealing with medical technology.

The study programme is open in both the full-time and combined forms of study. The programme is open to students with previous studies in Biomedical Engineering/Biomedical Technology, but also to students with related fields of previous study such as Electronics, Control and Information Systems, Biophysics, Radiological Assistant, Physiotherapist, Paramedic, Optometry, etc.

Upon successful completion of the study, graduates become an electrical engineer and also a non-medical health care professional, which is why the programme is also aimed at preparing engineers for clinical practice in accordance with the requirements of the legislation for the medical field of Biomedical Engineer under Act No.
