The Department of Informatics offers its own educational courses, which are designed for teaching and non-teaching staff of primary and secondary schools. The courses are led by lecturers experienced in their respective fields who also teach professional subjects at the faculty. At the same time, they also have extensive experience in practical applications of these technologies.

Individual courses are guaranteed by the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, VŠB-TUO. All formalities (invoice, certificate of attendance) will be issued by VŠB-TUO or the Department of Informatics.

Venue

Courses are held in the computer room, which is located in the modern CPIT TL3 building on the campus of VŠB-TUO in Poruba.

The course of courses

The specific courses vary in content and time, but they are always multi-day courses. The individual days of the course have a similar schedule. The course always runs from 9:00 to 16:00. The course will provide refreshments, lunch, study materials and a certificate of completion.

Basics of 3D modelling in Blender

The course is designed for primary and secondary school teachers to introduce participants to the basics of 3D modelling. No special knowledge is required (knowledge at the level of working with MS Office etc. is a prerequisite). The main focus of the course is to introduce the students to the open source tool Blender, its basic controls and principles. During the course, the participants will get acquainted with creating 3D models, followed by creating materials and textures. The participants will try rendering a scene and its basic lighting. The course also includes a demonstration of exporting models for 3D printing and use in game engines such as Unreal Engine 5.

  • Day 1: Introduction to Blender, modelling basic mesh solids and their topology. Working in the Blender environment and basic controls. Basics of texture mapping, materials.
  • Day 2: Topology check and optimization of 3D models, export of models, principles of 3D printing, practical testing and printing of your own models.
  • Third day: Animation, texture paint mod, importing models into UE5 and a hands-on demonstration in VR.

Prerequisites for participation in the course

Computer security

The aim of the course is to familiarize participants with the basics and good principles in the field of computer security. The course will emphasize current security issues that will reflect what is happening in the Czech Republic, but also in the world. In addition to theoretical knowledge, participants will also try out several practical demonstrations that are prepared so that they can be replicated for high school students. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive all the necessary materials and instructions, including a virtual image of the system, which will include the practical demonstrations that were discussed.

  • Day 1: Introduction to computer security, current situation in our country and in the world, a detailed look at selected computer attacks in recent years, user behaviour in the Internet environment, password management and a practical demonstration of a password attack.
  • Day 2: Phishing, social engineering, email spoofing and URL abuse techniques and at the end of the course basic principles of defence in cyberspace.
